Think nothing of it.
I think Disney...Hey, thanks!

Think nothing of it.

I think Disney radio is part of Sirius XM, isn't it? The Mouse House's live action fare is stuff I'm busy catching up with. For some reason, they were and weren't as big a part of my childhood growing up. I suppose that's a bummer on one level, yet on the other it's plus in that I get to make all these neat discoveries. I think a closer look at a lot of these old flicks will appear here eventually. As I say above, it's a side of the Disney artistic style that just doesn't get enough awareness these days. If I can get at least some to consider the old filmmaker in a different light, then that will have been accomplishment enough for me.

One thing I will say, the studio's live-action productions to day really can't compare with what the made under Walt's guidance.

As for "Bendy", it's amazing how the maker's of that game were able to utilize the style of old 30s cartoons and turn them into something that can send a genuine shiver up the spine.

ChrisC PrisonerNumber6https://www.blogger.com/profile/03156430802462353459noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3917612005522287441.post-15807112604370605632019-07-05T22:25:30.950-05:002019-07-05T22:25:30.950-05:00Disney's live actions were all over my childho...Disney's live actions were all over my childhood. Like millions of others, I guess. But still, when I start making a list I'm always surprised how damn many of them there were compared to now.

I remember reading about Disney's plans to launch Disney radio and Disney this or that and thinking that's ridiculous. Who the hell is going to listen to Disney radio and watch Disney shows? Wellll. Guess that one didn't work out so well for me.

By the way I started playing Bendy and the Ink Machine this evening. What a creepy damn game. Thank you for the heads-up a few months back.

I've definitely added this West book to the queue.B McMolohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02706178983936146307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3917612005522287441.post-10183031041624518162019-06-25T14:43:56.908-05:002019-06-25T14:43:56.908-05:00It's definitely a topic I plan to return to.

No s...Sounds like this would not be a book for me. No surprise there; I'm guessing most books about Walt written after, say, 2000 would likely fall under that heading.

I can't claim to be an expert on his live-action productions; I've seen a handful (including "Song of the South," which I rather like, despite its obvious downsides), but I've also got some big gaps.

My memory of the live-action Disney movie as a subgenre (and I'm referring to the ones produced during Walt's life) is that he was relatively hands-off with them. That's no surprise; he was relatively hands-off with the animated films after a certain point as well, especially once he began pursuing his dream of creating a theme park. My memory is that the only one he was truly involved with in anything that could be deemed an authorial capacity was "Mary Poppins."

Still, I expect you're right: this is an aspect of Disney's career that probably could use some more (and better) attention.Bryant Burnettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01189356171455609865noreply@blogger.com
